Overview
Ripple is an interactive light installation where visitors move around inside a teardrop-shaped structure and experience how light shifts in response to their presence. The installation invites exploration, allowing visitors to see how their movements influence the environment. The goal is to create a surprising, engaging experience that catches people off guard and reveals itself like a hidden gem.
Using LED lights and motion sensors, the space shifts in real-time as the light responds to the visitors’ movements. It’s about creating a moment of interaction where the light feels alive, constantly changing based on the energy within the space.
Concept
The teardrop shape symbolizes a transition. Moving around inside the installation allows visitors to interact with the space, where their movements influence the light’s intensity and color. The evolving atmosphere mirrors the idea that small actions create larger effects, with the light shifting in subtle ways that make the space feel alive.
The piece will be constructed from wooden 2x4s, stretch fabric, and specialized steel brackets, creating a durable structure that’s easy to set up with a small crew. The installation will be powered by batteries, providing flexibility and making it a good fit for the festival’s needs.
visuals & Experience

The lighting gradually shifts in intensity and color as visitors move around inside the structure. Starting with soft, cool tones, the light warms and intensifies as they approach the piece and step inside. Once inside, the subtle changes all around offer a unique, immersive experience, with each movement bringing a new, personal interaction with the space.
Why Pickathon?
Ripple connects to the spirit of Pickathon by offering festival-goers a moment of discovery, much like stumbling upon a new musical artist they weren’t expecting. The installation invites people to engage with their surroundings in a fresh way, creating a surprise that encourages interaction and adds to the festival’s vibrant atmosphere.
